Why invest through a no-load broker? Quite simply, to save money. As a knowledgeable investor, you have done your own research and already know which investments you want. And you'd rather not pay for advice you don't want or need. What you do need is an economical means of purchasing the investments you choose.

Sterling Mutuals allows you to invest without having to pay commissions when you buy or sell. Another advantage: by purchasing your mutual funds on no-load basis, you don't have to stay within any one company's family of funds. In other words, you are free to make changes at any time if your fund's performance is unsatisfactory to you.

There are no hidden fees, and we do not require you to make any initial investment beyond what is stated in the individual mutual fund prospectus. Once your account is set up with Sterling Mutuals you can buy, sell or switch funds when needed. We do not charge any fees for these services. Please note, however, that some fund companies levy their own fees, which of course is beyond our control; please read your prospectus before making investment decisions.

All you need to do is send us your instructions and we handle the paperwork. If you are an investor who doesn't want advice, but does want an accurate, reliable and timely agent to manage your brokering needs, call Sterling Mutuals and "take the load off your mutuals."

Deep discount brokers such as Sterling Mutuals do not provide financial planning advice. But timely mutual fund information is always available from our courteous customer service representatives. The Sterling Mutuals no-load investing program is best suited for individuals who are adept at making their own financial decisions and therefore require only a cost effective means of purchasing mutual funds.

Just complete the Sterling Mutuals New Client Account Application. This information is mandatory and it helps us establish a more comprehensive client profile in order to serve you better. Once your application is processed, you will be ready to start investing.

Orders can be placed by calling our toll free phone number, mailing or faxing your instructions on our easy to use Client Request Form and over the internet. Make sure you quote the fund number and name of the fund you wish to buy, sell or trade. This can be found in our Fund Listings . It contains more than 2000 mutual funds which can be purchased for no commission fees. In the case of purchases a cheque written to "Sterling Mutuals in trust" will be required prior to placing the order. (Ask about our direct deposit feature.)

Trade deadlines
All orders are placed at 2 pm EST. Trades received prior to 2 pm EST will be placed the same day. Those received after 2 pm EST may be placed the following business day. Please be aware that mutual funds were not designed to be traded like stocks on the stock market. (Refer to the mutual funds prospectus for closing and settlement times.)

Transfer
If you already own mutual funds you can transfer them to Sterling Mutuals. Just call us and we can prepare the necessary documents for you to sign.

SMI Self Directed RRSP
Consolidate your RRSP holdings into one account. For clients with a mutual fund account balance over $50,000.00 Sterling Mutuals will pay your trustee fee.

Sales Commission
0% commission on front end load mutual funds (FEL)
5% REBATE of the deferred sales charge (DSC)*

How does Sterling Mutuals get paid?
Many Mutual Fund companies pay "trailer" or "service" fees to fund dealers on an on-going basis. The amount paid depends on the total value of the dealer's client base. This is not charged to your account nor does it result in increased management fees. By collecting fees on a larger client base we are able to offset operating costs and realize a reasonable profit, while waiving client-paid fees and commissions.

*Please read your prospectus carefully. Fess and penalties will apply to early redemptions. Rebate may be higher or lower depending on the mutual fund. Consult your tax advisor about possible tax implications. Additional fund units will be purchased with the rebate.
